About two months ago, the company I was working for downsized and eliminated my position. This was a big change for me as I had developed many friendships there and thought I had found a place where I could establish a career. However, if life has taught me anything, it is to always look for the silver lining in a situation. I am a warrior. I have been through so much worse, and when I’m down, I always stand back up. So, I brushed the dust of that job off and started enjoying the benefits of not working there- no long commute, more time with my family, and no longer expected to do the work of 3 designers (my stress level decreased accordingly). During this time, I also decided to focus on my own fine art and design business, meagdesign.
Soon you will see some exciting additions to meagdesign! The site is being reorganized to create a more cohesive and navigable environment. New services including custom graphics, and art rental are on the horizon! The great people (Michael and Jason) at Mediastead are helping to make all of this a reality.
The last several weeks have also afforded me the time to volunteer by painting on site both at Hershey Medical Center and the House of Care at Geisinger Medical Center. This is something that is really close to my heart and I have truly enjoyed having the availability to do. Below are some of the pieces that were created. Each one has a story meant to provide hope and encouragement for those going through difficult circumstances.
Even more exciting, tomorrow I begin a new chapter at Fresh Roasted Coffee, LLC. I am thrilled to join the team (who is more like family), at this growing company that is the epitome of so many things I love. Graphic design, marketing, local, and coffee! It doesn’t get better than that! Looking forward to great opportunities at my new home!
Looking forward, the Corn Hill Arts Festival is July 14th and 15th, and I will be an exhibiting artist again this year. Mark your calendars, come check out the artwork, and support your local artisans! Looking forward to seeing you there! Also, look for my work this month at the First National Bank in downtown Selinsgrove for the Selinsgrove Fine Art Stroll! Check in for more meagdesign updates.
